I am interested in the interconnections between RNA processing events. Specifically, I study the phenomenon of Intron-Mediated Enhancement (IME), wherein the presence of an intron has been observed to enhance gene expression at multiple levels and across diverse genes and organisms. I am characterizing this process in human cells using massively parallel experimental assays as well as genome wide computational analyses.
Whenever I feel useless, I like to remember that I breathe out CO2 for plants.
